Useful Information
There are several things to consider when deciding to go on mission to Ghana. Hopefully the information below will help you prepare for what will be the trip of your life so far!
Cost
The ocst of the mission is £899 including flights, food and accomodation and travel within Accra.
The cost of vacinations and travel incurance is the responsibility of each person travelling.
Health
Make sure you have all the inoculations recommended by your doctor. The two most important ones are:
- Yellow Fever (Not optional) - You will need to take the certificate for this injection with you. Cost around £50 depending on the Doctors Surgery you use.
- Typhoid (Highly recommended).
Bring any prescribed medication that you may require with you, making sure it is well marked and in the original container. Also ensure you have a sufficient supply to last you throughout the trip.
Malaria Tablets are essential and must be taken before, during and after the trip. Mosquitoes are out between dusk and dawn. To avoid getting bitten apply insect repellent and wear long trousers and closed-toe shoes. Avoid the temptation to pat monkeys, dogs and cats, no matter how cute they look. They may have rabies, which is fatal.
Get some good rest before going on mission - if you start off exhausted you are more likely to be susceptible to illness.
Avoid dehydration by drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water per day in the week before departure and drinking water or juice regularly once on board the airplane.
